JANUARY


CLOSED New Years Eve and New Years Day

Tyler County Heritage Society Annual Membership Meeting and Dinner
Held at the Pickett House at the end of January. All current and prospective members of the Society are invited to attend. Includes election of nominated officers for the new year.
  Date: Saturday, January 27, 2024
  Time: Dinner at 5 PM (need to make a reservation: cost $12;
      Meeting at 6 PM
  Location: Pickett House Restaurant at Heritage Village in Woodville, TX
  Meeting program: This includes:
      Annual voting for Board Officers and Board Directors
      A brief meeting recapping the past year
      Looking towards the new year
      Award presentations
      A guest speaker
  Speaker: Pauline Singleton, President of the Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve
  Membership Dues: Membership dues will be collected. Individual = $20; family = $30; small businesses = $60.

FEBRUARY

Whitmeyer Genealogy Library - New Hours - Beginning with February 2024, the library will be open from 9am til 2pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of the first week and the last week of each month. A calendar is posted on the door to the library, or call 409-283-2272 to check if it will be open on the day that you plan to visit.

College Scholarship - OPEN to receive applications! - This program is OPEN to Tyler County High School Students and Homeschooled students graduating this year. Pick up an application from your school counselor or pick one up at the Heritage Village Museum Store in Woodville, TX. Another option is to: Click here to download a copy of the guidelines and application form. The value of the Scholarship is $500. The Deadline is Monday, April 29th.



MARCH

Toast To Texas Independence - Join Texans and honorary Texans around the world in saluting Texas Independence Day. The Village celebration includes a toast with pure East Texas spring water. Masks required. Seating spaced out.

  Location: Village Stage (Weather permitting)

Festival of the Arts - The weekend before Western Weekend.
Featured in the show are heirloom quilts as well as new creations.
This special display is a delight to see as quilts of all ages fill the many buildings in the Village. For more information, go to our Festival of the Arts page.
  Date: Saturday, March 23
  Time: 9 AM - 3 PM
  Admission: $5-Adult; $3-Children under 12

Dinner-on-the-Grounds - Join us for an "old fashion" dinner on the grounds. Great food, great entertainment, great fellowship!
  Date: Sunday, March 24
  Time: 11 AM - 2 PM
  Dinner Cost: Adults -- $10   Children under 12 -- $5
    Tickets on sale at Sullivan's Hardware, at the Heritage Village Museum Store, and from Heritage Society Board Members.

Western Weekend - Usually last weekend in March Trail rides, Rodeo, Trail ride Parade and topped with a Western Dance are events to not miss this weekend. The events are sponsored by the Woodville Lions Club.

APRIL

Dogwood Weekend - Usually first weekend in April
This weekend's Saturday is filled with Dogwood Festival activities. There are lots of booths with arts and crafts and food around Woodville's Town Square. Many antique vehicles including trucks, motorcycles, and autos participate. Of course, it has it's Queen and royalty with a coronation ceremony. There is a parade and much more.

Queen's Brunch - Tentatively scheduled - A brunch for current Queen's court and former Dogwood Queens held in the Clyde Gray House Museum.

    Entertainment: Sharon and Bubba Meaux and sometimes brother David - Classic country songs

Farmer's Market will close for the season near the end of June to reopen in the cooler fall.

JULY

July 4, 2024 Picnic
    Place: Heritage Village, Woodville, TX
    Time: Gates open at 5 pm
    Admission: $25 for one cooler (family) - meaning the whole family brought in a cooler, lawn chairs, etc.
    RULES: Coolers Checked the gate; NO alcohol, NO fireworks.
    Food:
       Bring your own in your cooler or picnic basket
       Bring some food to share with others as in pioneer days.
       Norm’s Dogs & Brats will be set up and available for purchase, with a part of the proceeds going to the Village.
    Entertainment:
      6:00 pm - Music by Kylan Holloway
      6:30 pm - Speaker is Jim Boone, a longtime historian, educator, and noted jazz musician.

AUGUST

    Time: 5:00 to 7:00 PM
    Dinner price: $14.95 per plate - fish fry dinner
    Location: Pickett House Restaurant, Woodville, TX
    Entertainment: Christina Greenwood, from Spurger, will perform as part of a duo with guitarist Will Lewis. Greenwood said that the quote that most encapsulates her take on music comes from the legendary operatic tenor Luciano Pavarotti, who once said "most singers want the audience to love them, but I love the audience."

Lewis, veteran performer who has played in many bands through the years and currenly plays guitar in both the Sugarmoons and the New Day Spirituals bands ane brings a deft, jazzy approach to his instrument.

Dance Under the Stars
    This is a new event. Wear your cowboy boots and be ready to two step and line dance.

Harvest Festival
    This is the largest fall folk life festival in East Texas, featuring pioneer East Texas crafts, pioneer demonstrations, people in unique period costume, outstanding shows of both music and dance, and lots of interesting food.

              Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 9 am - 5 pm

Thanksgiving Day
The Pickett House Restaurant and Heritage Village Museum are CLOSED.

DECEMBER

Heritage Village Cherokee Church

Christmas candle on a holderTwilight Tour - Usually held the first Saturday from 5:00 pm til 8 pm. Free admission. Tour the Village by oil lamps and lanterns! Enjoy natural greenery. Enjoy music on the Village Green stage followed by a Christmas service held in the Cherokee Church this year. Pick up a snack box as you leave. This is our Thank You for supporting our village through the year.
